PFC Jesse Williamson
Jesse joined the Marine Corps to do something greater than himself. He saw a lot of his friends going down a wrong path, and he did not want any part of it.
He attended MCRDSD for boot camp, then went to Camp Pendleton and finally to the fleet where he was stationed with 2nd BN 3rd MAR 3rd MAR DIV Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
After arriving in Hawaii he did approximately an eight month work up and deployed to Afghanistan in early of 2009. On August 6, 2009, his team hit an IED while responding to a TIC that their sister platoon was in.
He was in the turret of the Humvee at the time of the blast which is basically the only reason why he survived. The blast killed all of his friends – there were five of them. He broke his back, femur, and tried limb salvage on both his legs but was unable to save them. He had just turned 20 in Afghanistan and really thought there was nothing left for him to do anymore. After two years at Wounded Warrior Battalion, Jesse left the Marine Corps. He had no goals or ambitions. Being so young and with everything that he had gone through, took everything out of him. He started racing dirt bikes for fun a few years later and had some pretty good sponsorships with some great companies like Monster Energy. For a change of pace, he started playing golf in 2016, then decided to attend the Golf Academy of America, Professional Golfers Career College, and most recently attended the University of Arizona. This has all brought him to the where he is today – working towards his goal of becoming a PGA member. He is a PGA apprentice at the moment and he just took a job in Yorba Linda, CA., working at Black Gold Golf Club as an assistant instructor, as well as working around the golf course.
He recently married his beautiful wife Stephanie, and they have two daughters, Camil and Harley.
