Rick served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. Rick was admired and respected for his leadership and fearlessness in combat. He was awarded the PURPLE HEART for wounds received in action on September 14, 1967 in Vietnam, presented to him by Major General Donn J. Robertson USMC. He was also awarded other medals, decorations and commendations. The Marines Corps brotherhood was evident as Rick continued his close bonds of friendship made during his time in the USMC.
